Corneal Cross Linking.

Keratoconus is a corneal condition which can lead to distorted vision and in extreme cases can lead to the need for corneal transplantation.

Corneal Cross Linking Surgery in Jersey

Occasionally vision can become distorted (astigmatism) due to a weakness of the cornea known as “keratoconus”. This can be progressive and ultimately lead to severe visual distortion.

The progression of keratoconus can be halted using “Corneal Cross Linking” which we are also happy to offer. In some instances it can also allow people with unusual corneas to undergo corrective laser eye surgery.

Even in mild forms it can make patients unsuitable for corrective laser treatment. However we can now carry out the revolutionary treatment known as corneal cross linking to prevent the progression of keratoconus. It can also enable many keratoconic patients to have corrective laser treatment, so they too can enjoy life without glasses or contact lenses.

What to expect at your appointment

Consultations can be carried out either in our Jersey or Guernsey clinic. Here we provide relaxed and comfortable surroundings, the consultants and support staff will ensure that all of your questions are answered and any concerns you have are addressed, giving you total peace of mind. During the consultation we will assess your eyes and your current prescription, as well as reviewing the shape, size and thickness of the cornea and the general dimensions of your eye and the refracting surfaces.

We can then advise if you are a suitable candidate for refractive surgery and, if so, what type of procedure is most appropriate for you.
